Quiz: Workforce Change and Consultation With Unions

When introducing AI systems, local government organisations must consider how these technologies affect their workforce and anticipate potential job role modifications.

Under section 100 of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992, employers must consult with recognised trade unions when implementing significant changes that affect employees.

The consultation process for AI implementation should occur at an early stage in the planning phase rather than after the system is already in place.

Effective change management through AI implementation requires consistent communication to maintain staff confidence and reduce resistance to new technologies.

Training and development opportunities should be included in AI implementation strategies to support staff through transitions and enhance their readiness for new responsibilities.
